Leotia Viscosa (Chicken Lips)

These fungi are small to medium sized. On ground or sometimes rotten wood. Cap and stalk present. Stem smooth or scruffy. Maybe glutinous or not.

Found at Lake Waikeramoana on May 9, 2001 at the 15th Annual New Zealand Fungal Foray.
This is a delightful mushroom to find. Beautiful colours and very, very slimy, almost impossible to pick up.

Stem: Yellow with minute green dots.

Cap: Green, in-rolled and often lobed.

Habitat: Solitary or in groups, on ground or amongst moss.

Edibility: Not sure. Apparently harmless but of little or no value.

Different people react differently to different mushrooms.

NEVER eat a wild mushroom without being 100% sure it is safe to do so.
