Hyphodontia Sambuci

Found at Te Mata Trust Park, Havelock North on September 29th, 2000. Growing on a dead log.

This fungus can be found year round and plays a major role in the decay and break down of tree litter.

It coats the outside surface of the host like a crust and at a closer look appears to have tiny spines all over it's surface.

Colour white and surface is quite lumpy

Edibility: Not edible!!

Different people react differently to different mushrooms.
